Sean Äaberg is one of the creators behind Goblinko Megamall and Dungeon Degenerates as well as other innumerable projects. He is a professional artist living in Portland, Oregon with his wife and three kids. He became involved in the tabletop roleplaying scene as a professional around 2007. In particular, he didn’t care for the art of Magic: the Gathering and any pretty much any Dungeons & Dragons after 1980.
Sean suffered a severe stroke in September of 2018 and his path to recovery is more than a little inspiring. From my interactions with him, he sounds like anything but someone who is still learning to live after a strokes. Instead, Sean sounds like a loving husband and a good father who thrives on creating. If he delivers on a fraction of his planned projects he will be doing more than many a “healthy” creator with lots of planned side projects.
To me, his art style rests somewhere along the spectrum between Garbage Pail Kids and Rob Zombie. That is to say I love it and also find it a little nostalgic. I don’t know a lot about the punk scene in general. But if it’s anything like Sean, it’s raw, unapologetic, and genuine!
